hello I am Jamison. I recently purchased a chevy nova and it came with a 350 Olds engine. I am not particularly well versed in the Olds World. I was giving the car the once over and the engine oil dipstick tube is not connected to the block. What is my best way to install without too much tear down. The flare was the lower section so I am assuming I might be missing some possibly.

Its broken and there is still a piece stuck in the block. It needs to be removed, read the link:

You can place a parts wanted thread to find another one.

Welcome. The broken dipstick tube is unfortunately common when people incorrectly try to remove it to install headers. You will need to use a screw that fits tightly into the stub of the tube in the block and a slide hammer to extract the remains. Good luck.

thanks for the help. I actually looked at that thread and was hoping that is not what I had going on.
It seems like the tube is kinda bent so I am wondering how to get down in there with a bolt?

Thanks Joe. I am now debating if removing the headers or possibly the starter would help me to get access to get the stub out.

Removing the starter will help a lot. Headers may or may not be in the way, depending on how the tubes are routed. Of course, the headers need to be installed before the new tube goes back in.
