Hey everyone trying to validate whether my 4 speed transmission is original to the car by finding the vin stamp. So far I have had no luck finding it. According to the building manual it should be on the left side toward the top.
Picture from my transmission in that spot. Am I looking in the wrong spot or is it possible I have to look in another location?

I took other photos of the stampings and it seems to be a 70 tranny.
Welll group. I put the beast on a full lift at my local shop to do one final review and it appears the spot for the VIN is blank. Guessing it got replaced at some point. I had hope that maybe the spot in the picture was the VIn but we took cleaner to it and then colored it in with tire chalk to see if the numbers appeared and struck out
Question to the experienced members. Any other possible place before I call this exploration done?
