And a 1970 pace car.

And a 65 Starfire 4spd.

And a mid-70s Starfire.

And a 72 H/O convert

And a 1969 W32

And a 1957 J2

And a 1940s woodie wagon

And... and... and...
A mid-70's Starfire.....that was unexpected. I bought one new with a 4-speed, posi rear, and A/C. Was unique at the time, without the then common clunky bumpers, but should had waited and bought an Omega the following year.

Shoot, I forgot the 1973 Omega hatchback on the list...

I've wanted an H-body Starfire since they came out. I had just gotten my license in 1974 and thought they were pretty cool. I really want to do one with the Monza IMSA fenders.

My favorites to have include:

'71 W-30 in Viking blue, with white stripes, and pearl interior. Dual-gate Automatic.
'70 W-31 in Rally red, with black stripes, and black interior. M-20 4-speed.
'69 442 in Platinum silver, with red pin stripes, and red interior. M-21 4-speed.

That sounds sharp. Maybe slip in an Olds 350 along with the IMSA fenders, not unlike the Monza's short lived optional 305.

I had the optional side stripes and SS-III rims. Always thought 14" rims/tires should had been optional on the Starfire, Monza and Skyhawk.

There are alot i would like, including non Olds. My first choice would be a 69 H/O, then a 69 442, preferably a 4 speed. Next a 61 2 door post car, then a 68- 72 Vista Cruser. Heres a pic of my next project after i finish my olds. It wasnt too expensive, needs work but ill get it done. Been wanting one of these for quite a while

Smile My Dream Olds

If that were meant to be (Me ever owning another Oldsmobile) it would have to meet very high standards,and be identical to the '55 Super 88 Holiday Coupe, that I sold in 1962! Larry

My number one choice would be a 66 442, 4 speed either hard top or ragtop.
The one I wish I had back was a red 66 F85 2 dr post with a white roof and black interior. I traded that beautiful car on a new 71 Vega.

Ronnie, I like the pic of the 73 Omega. I guess that tent was an option for those wanting to live "on the wild side."

I also like the 74 Starfire. It would be hard to come across one of those. I browse the internet for Oldsmobiles often and I rarely come across those.

FWIW, the 3 pictures I posted are actual cars for sale right now. Unfortunately, I can't disclose their location because one of you might buy them before I do.

The Omega tent was a rare option. I'm still kicking myself that I didn't buy the one on ebay a few years ago.

Also, 1975 was the first year for the H-body Starfire.

The car I would like to get next would be a 1965 442 Convertible 4 Speed Car.

The car I wish I still had is the first Olds I ever had. It was a 1970 Cutlass W31 4 Speed 3.91 gears in the rear, Rally Red with White Vinyl Top and White interior. I got into a lot of trouble in that car. I would love to find another one some day, maybe without all the white!

Great Thread!!

I don't plan on buying anymore olds, already have my two favorite that they made. But I've always wanted to build an early 50's olds 88 with a 394, chain drive 471 blower and a 4 speed.

Think I'm getting too old for any more, plus I've already had pretty much most cars I've wanted over 50 years, topped by the '57 300C convert, 68 Jag E-Type swb coupe, and 56 S 88 convert, Rose Mist & White...

70s Starfire??! Had a maroon '76 Starfire with the Buick V6 and 4 spd and loved the torquey drivetrain... BUT it was hands down the worst designed and assembled car I've ever owned: crappy fit/finish, instant serious chassis rust, saggy doors, rattles, horrible gaps, a real POS car that was the absolute nadir of GM "quality", the problems were designed in right at the Lordstown (?) factory! An absolutely horrible car to own!

That's a tough one, I'd love a '68 Cutlass S Ram-rod or a loaded '68 H/O to go with my '68 4spd 442, but one I'd love to have again would be a '75 98 Regency!? I had one back in the 80s. It was a triple black 4dr beast that just cruised! I loved driving it. It was a former Olds zone rep car out of North Carolina & it had every option Olds offered that year except the front air bags & anti-lock brakes. I did some mods to it,larger frt sway bar,rear sway bar from a Caprice,gas shocks,etc. Everyone that drove it couldn't believe how well it drove & handled for an almost 5000 lb boat!

Eric -
That's one of the few advantages of being old! Stuff was cheap then.
I had all those cool cars 30 years ago, paid all of $5k for the 300c and about the same for 38k mi Jag coupe (in Wedgwood Blue), $3500 for the 56 Super 88 vert (it had a mint body but bad engine)...also had a gold '57 Super 88 convert with only 40k that ran great, I think 3800 for that one, but I liked the '56 better! Just wish I had found a lavender '58 98 convert around then... and actually kept it! Now I'm lucky to afford a 4 dr... where's my time machine?!!

Yeah, I know what you mean. When I was looking for my first 911, I was also looking at ads for XKEs. Nice examples of either one were running about $10,000. I ended up getting what I thought was a decent '70 E Targa for about $7,000 (which ended up not being quite so decent...), but if I'd seen the right ad for an E-type, I'd have gone that way instead.

They're both too darned expensive now...

As mentioned in other posts I've owned more Oldsmobiles in my life than any other make so my wish list is small. My Starfire is one which is why I have kept it for almost 6 years. I would like to have my 69 Hurst Olds back only I would want it to have A/C. And lately I've been thinking about a full size Olds station wagon restomod...

I dug out a 1972 Supreme that I've been working on/more off for nearly 15 years. The plan was to sell the Supreme then dig out a 1966 Dynamic convertible that I have buried in one of my buildings. Change of plans. A car followed me home so I am rethinking my plans. Since I've been retired I don't have any time to work on my cars. I'm now a full-time (legally documented ) unpaid babysitter/handyman for my children. Here's the car that followed me home.

Cars I want to own again;
!978 Olds 98 with a 455 under the hood. Joni Mitchell sums it up, "You don't know what you've got 'til it's gone"....
And a 1983 Cutlass supreme wagon.
Money no object Oldsmobiles;
Any 1967 on 98 or Custom Cruiser wagon.
Other cars;
!962-1966 fintail Mercedes Benz,
1970 Plymouth Fury 111
1959 Cadillac (Any body style).

I'm sure I have seen the 1958 Olds in Rocket Ronnies pics in the flesh at shows in the UK, can you tell me more about it?.

Roger.

Amen. My dad had a 1953 Super so I knew the foundation for that design. My 4th grade teacher had a Skylark--quite rusty but I think that was the first time I appreciated how beautiful a car could be.

Linden , was a BOP plant .
Buicks , Oldsmobiles , and Pontiacs were all assembled on the same assembly line .

It's likely that a Pontiac was assembled before your car and a Buick or two were assembled after it .

Since this is my dream list, I am still holding for the Olds built before and after mine for those consecutive brand VINs.
