The go faster thread

The question is how fast would you like to go.My goal is deep nines when cash allows. The engine will be a 350D diesel block because it has the .842 lifter bores. I have the block that is standard bore i am leaning to a 434 ci.The car is a 1970 442 tube chassis.Pics of the car is in my album. I didn't post all the pics in the album. There are around 108 pictures of the total rebuild this would a chassis thread like cutlass freak did. Some day i may post them. This car is set up with front plate and mid plate. So lets hear about your goals and how fast you want to go.

Nothing wrong with having a 54! Is there a reason a little past 80 bothers you or just a cop thing?I like the color of your car.

I expect my '69 to run mid-upper 9's with a 494 BBO naturally aspirated when completed. As soon as it hits the track I plan to start building the next generation short block which will be a D/DX block 434/440 that I plan to use the same top end off of the 494 and spray enough N20 to get it into the 8's.

It has bias belted repro tires on it and it is 61 years old. It runs great and has good oil pressure but I just don't want to push it that hard for long. It will probably get a set of wide white radials next year. Thanks for the compliment on the color.

I don't have enough money to go fast but if I did I'd like my 62 to be a single digit car, maybe low nines. And my 66 will never have a cage but id like it to be 11's
eventually

You can run 11.50 without a cage/roll bar at a drag strip. If you go faster they just tell you to go home after a couple break outs. On the street LOL as fast as you want.

So are most of you guys looking to run 12's with a streetcar or faster? Trying to get a gage.I have three recipes all faster than 13.0 and all are 455 engines. If the mods change this forum i will post my builds as well as one other that a buddy has.The 12 eng is very well proven with around a thousand time slips. The others have several hundred passes.
