New Personal Best Ran 10.8s PICTURES ADDED

Raced in Medicine Hat AB this weekend & finally managed to slip into the 10.8s

Ran 10.90 to 10.97 all weekend. Got eliminated this afternoon & waited for T&T.

Ran 10.897 & backed it up with a 10.892. Both @ 122.5 mph with 1.474 60' times.

Corrected altitude was 3800' but using only the NHRA correction factors for that tracks 2400' elevation this corrects to 10.67 @ 124.91 mph.

Heading back to work soon so my race season is likely over. Glad to finally break into the 10.8s with the 1972 442.

Nicely done Dave. Let's see a pic of your race car?

Have fun with the return to work.

Thanks again for the great deal on that radiator!

Yes it is a Mopar 440 6 pack scoop mounted on a 1972 4 door flat hood with all the unneeded metal removed (26 lbs cut out). I needed the height to clear the Victor intake. I take a lot of sh*t from the Mopar guys about that scoop but it works.

I like the fact its diffrent . Its not a cowl induction or a ram air hood. I have a fiberglass hood but its a pro stock style scoop I'm gonna cut I off and do that 440 scoop.

Here's a shot from the other side and from the back. The car twists violently on launch & as fun as that looks it is wasted energy. We need to get it to hook hard & leave straight so that both tires come off the ground to the same height. Currently the left rear is loosing traction with the twist & really hurting my 60' times. Rear suspension upgrades & front suspension tweaks are on the must do list next spring.

Neat. Looks like the signal lens areas are the force air intakes?

You could probably lose even more of the cars weight going with fibreglass front clip and bumpers. I know you'd keep the OEM parts as spares or saleable items. I'm guessing the interior is stripped as I can see the roll cage.

Dave: Car is both looking good and working good for you. Don't feel bad about the Mopar guys giving you grief. At least everyone is not asking if your car is a Dodge like mine.

Possibly. Got all winter to research what to do next. Currently have SSM no hop bars & adjustable uppers along with air bags & adjustable shocks. The 1.47 60' times on the foot brake are OK but the car should be capable of 1.35 60' times.

Pics from Saturday

Ran 10.89 & was still only the 3rd fastest Olds on site (or the slowest depending on your perspective). Of course there were only three Oldsmobiles in the 39 car Pro class but at least we were all in the 10s.

Dave had his '62 Starfire there & ran 10.45 before the trans sh*t the bed and Brian (non member) had his '70 442 on site & also ran 10.40s & 10.50s.

Here are a couple of photos taken on Saturday. Sorry for the crappy picture resolution as they are jpeg scans from prints that the track photographer dropped off @ my trailer.

Very nice Dave. There are some wicked fast Olds powered Oldsmobile's that race here too. None are owned by me.

Congrats on the 10.80s. Always feels good to get another .1 out if the way.

An anti roll bar like the Bickel piece or similar would do wonders for your car. Only a couple of pounds and is tucked up where no one sees it. I prefer the ones that go over and between the frame rails 10-1 over the under rearend style that weight considerably more.

You can come out "Square" with that anti-roll bar. I have a SBO stick car with all "Old-School" stuff and it leaves perfectly. My engine guy has 3 Olds racers ranging from 10.00s to 11.00s and they all have the anti-bar; I do not. Is your front sway bar present? Settings on air bags? Any pre-load dialed in on rear suspension? Neat car!!!

Not familiar with the "Bickel piece". Can you post a link please.

Found the Bickel web site. Thanks no need for link.

To answer Dave I have rear air bags (7 lbs left 17 lbs right works best), no front sway bar, Strange engineering adjustable shocks front & rear. I have played with bag pressures & shock settings to find my cars' best settings & just can't get it to hook any better than 1.47s on the foot brake.

Thanks in advance for helpful suggestions. 10.79 is next years' target ET.
