455 questions

I have the opportunity to buy a rebuilt 455 in a jetboat. Its been rebuilt correctly with oil restrictors, high volume oil pump, 8 quart pan, new pistons and all new arp bolts. After rebuild It was broken in and runs good, but has never been in the water since its been rebuilt. It has only minimum run time with fresh hose water.

Does anyone know if a marine motor has reverse rotation from a car motor? Also are they internally or externally balanced? Can I bolt a regular flex plate on it?

Any thoughts on using a boat motor in a car?

they are the same. the only things done different for use in the boat is the clearences are usually a little bigger and the cam is different as the boat tends to run at 4k to 5k rpm for sustained amounts of time.

Well, ya got to be careful, there, matey!

Ye may well end up turning starboard and port, and moving her aft to park. Next thing you know you are hoisting the mizzemnast. Arrgh!
