Has anyone had any luck using a PRW main cap girdle or Halo? (https://www.summitracing.com/parts/PQX-0945511).
I have one that I did use once but I'm not sure if it helped or hurt. I did not machine anything when I installed it but the block had been line honed just before. I had some bearing wear BUT I always have wear because I beat my motors really hard drag racing. I'm debating on whether I want to try it again. I think now that it could actually cause the main caps to move out of position if they are not perfectly straight across the top both side to side and across the flat.
Personally I think all halo girdles are a joke. That said, if you are going to use one all of the main caps need to be milled to the same installed height and it should be torqued in position when it's line honed.

^^^^^. The 4 main halos are especially useless, 5 main or nothing.

Thanks Chadman, I'm curious what you use for a motor if your running low 9s?

462 CID
65 425 block with full girdle that ties into the oil pan rails
billet crank
aluminum rods
solid roller cam
well ported Wenzler heads
1350 Dominator carb
and a fairly light weight car
I was told that by the time you machine the stock block for a girdle, the labor, parts and all, you are almost better off just buying the Rocket Racing block and not dealing with the headaches that come with a girdle.

That is correct. The additional cost to step up to the RR block at that point is minimal and what you gain is substantial. I plan to replace this short block with a RR based short block for the 2022 season.
Chad, you must be near the top of the fastest BBO NA builds of all time.
I would say that's pretty accurate. There are a few that have gone quicker but all but one that I know of are significantly lighter than mine (tube chassis, big tires, lexan etc.). The only quicker one to my knowledge that I would consider to be the same type of car as mine is Kurt Wich. He went 9.0X with his 506 that made 830hp.
