Love that torque curve! Do you have a guess what difference a Performer RPM intake would be?

Yep it made more tq and over a longer range than that 455 I posted did, and it’ll idle at 850 no problem.
I’m not sure why people even fool with big blocks anymore. Plus good, useable 455 blocks are getting harder and harder to find not to mention more expensive.
And yes most likely about 10-15hp less with an RPM but I’d bet it would make 550tq.
Both the HP and tq peaks are low enough already that it really needs more intake volume and probably a bit more ex duration as well.
However it’ll be a fun drive for sure!!

Regular gas block?

Gen 2 heads are not the newest offerings, correct?

How did it idle? Would you do a larger LSA if it was running EFI?

Idled fine at 850-900. No I wouldn’t change it. If your EFI won’t compensate then I probably wouldn’t use it.

A 238 @ .050 hyd roller is a good sized cam in a 450 inch engine. Will require a decent converter to run hard. With the aftermarket crank at least you have a provision for a pilot bearing in a stick application.

Do you know what jets are in the SS830 Quick Fuel? Any jets or air bleed changes?

Good question. Stock is 78/86 I believe with #28 hsb. Final combination was 83/91 with #31hsb’s. Idle bleeds were untouched although those could’ve gone up a few numbers as well.
My pet peave, Guys who throw on carbs, fiddle with the idle screws and say it’s tuned, amazing.

Nice build.
I agree the small block is the best bang for the dollar with the new stroker crank, rods, pistons, and heads.
What kind of gains would you expect from the new heads and ARH header upgrade?

Heads probably 10-15, headers less than 10. I did a 480 big block years ago that made 614 with Hooker Super Comps, 622 with ARH’s. They look great but won’t make a big difference in power, at least in my experience.
