The 350 is still hanging in there.

Made some passes a few weeks ago. 11.88,11.89 and an 11.88 . Car is running pretty good and I'm still on the quest for an 11.7x time slip but that won't happen in the summer heat. We caught a nice break in the weather and managed to pretty much run what we ran last fall. I think it's time to re visit my suspension and limit the front end and add a few clicks to the rear. The settings are all the same from when I was struggling with my old nitto drag radials. Went to a full slick hoosier it hooked and I let it be. I found an intake manifold leak that had to have been there for a while and took a long time to actually develop into a vacuum leak. This fix drastically changed my tune so I have to re jet it. It's on the rich side but plugs are not fouling out. I want that 11.7x before I go to the 4500 stall I'm borrowing. I'm also gonna be trying out an 850 carb. The current 60 ft. Is 1.58 which I think is pretty good for my combo but I know my 3.90 gears are limiting me a bit. Anyway it's been a while since I made a post. Been busy which isn't bad but here ya go.

Track elevation falls around 750 above sea level I believe. Temps where in the low 70's . I like to be in the burn out box about 130 degrees then by the time I hit the beams it falls on about 160 if my burn out isn't anything massive. Usually hits 175 on the return road.

Nice, you have it down to a sweet science. So regardless of outdoor temps your ride is making that pass with an engine that's on the cool side....

Sea level track and 50* temps maybe 11.5s ? Have you ever corrected your numbers on a program ?

Ambient temps do affect it. Last summer I had the great idea to race it on a 93 degree day . Same regiment of trying to keep the car at a specific running temp we ran 3., 12.0 passes one 12.1 and then I removed the exhaust and cracked an 11.89. but at that time my tune was lean so the heat was forgiving and my carb was still off. In the fall with the right temps I'm sure I can get a low 11.7 all day but every time I go it's a freakishly warm day. I wanted to hit the track early April on a 45 degree day but covid kill those plans. Usually as the day wears on the car will eventually see the effects of heat soak. Specially on the manifold once we cross that threshold regardless of engine temp it will just run the same number in the 12.0's. The last 2 years although I spent alot of time and learned a lot about tuning I spent alot of time focusing on my procedures as far as what to do and what the car is gonna do in a situation where we have to .... Say go round robin where I can't cool the car off.

Your baby held up pretty well in that extreme heat. I have also run in 93* heat, never again... absolutely horrendous. For both my car and me.

My ride lost 4 MPH and gained 8/10s of et going from a 52 degree day in April to a 93 degree day in July for 2018. While the car was 50 lbs lighter and cats removed for 93 degree day. Went back September 2018, on a 72 degree day and picked up 7/10s and 2.5 MPH with cats back on and weight about same.

Your car should love a 45 degree day.

Looking Good Copper.

I am hoping you can hit 11.7x's with corrections to your tune and dialing in the suspension better before going to the 4500 stall.

I will be watching to see what you can do.... Good Luck!

I'm gonna chip at it but I think. I think the converter will be a significant blow to the 60ft. Plus I don't have the world's best converter.

Yeah, I know you spoke of that before, as you may be up against the best that your old converter can do.

I hope you can hit 11.55-11.6x’s with the new converter.

Congrats Copper on what you have done with that combo. I think you will get the lower ET. If you see Dave the Olds freak tell him hi for me. I hope to get my car up and going. Take care.

Thanks. I hope to see Dave Soon. My wife and I had lunch at his place that day. I can't go to great lakes dragaway without stopping by his place or telling him to meet us at the track. Planning on hopefully hitting the track at the end of the month.

That LeMans was a big tire car has over 100 cubes on me. We where 1 second apart in E/T but he snoozed on the line. His margin of Victory was only .4 .I didn't put the W on the board but my wallet ain't deep lol.

Went to the track trying to chase a lower E/T. Best pass was an 11.90 . We had a wicked head wind 20 to 35 mph .

Thanks . It's my local track and he has come out and asked me about the paint job in the past. Great track. The announcer always try's to make the Little guys the stars by hyping them up despite it's just a test n tune.
