How much more hp? Budget? Some specifics would help.

So the block is empty right now? If so I would stroke it and use chevy bb rod journal size. New rods and forged pistons. Mark cutlassefi thinks modern ring pack is the way to go. He has made several pistons brands recommendations to other guys he might chime in with one for you. Get a good aluminum intake. What level hp are you looking for and do you still want this streetable?

Is your car your building this engine a 1966 Oldsmobile 98? If so you should upgrade your rear differential gear ratio first. Some 1966 had the "Pontiac" rearend and if so (you'll need to make sure) Monza who monitors this site has a 3:55 ratio for this rearend. There is no sense building a "stroker" engine until you improve your gears. I'd start with the rearend then move forward. A 455 will give you over 500 '#s of torque which in my opinion is the cheapest way to go, build for torque. What is your goal for this car.

It's not to easy to upgrade the rearend depending on your carrier. I've never found a 1966 88/98 B headed D block 425 that was a 39 degree cam lifter angle. All my 1967 C headed D block 425 have all been 39 degree. If you have the Toronado 1966 425 big valved B heads D block it is a 39 degree block. Torque is your friend when trying to get one of these "battleship" moving. I suggest starting with a 455. Jmo.
