Used engine value

So what is the consensus opinion on the used value of this engine build, its been in a Modified stock drag car for two seasons, maybe raced a dozen times. 69 Tornado block – new cam bearings

Nodular crank turned 10/10

Wiseco pistons PTS537A3 - speed pro piston rings

Mondello SR-500-H “H” Beam Connecting Rods

Comp cam 42-655-5 solid cam 250/256 .568 .534

Edelbrock heads – chrome valve covers – roller rockers – Comp pushrods

Edelbrock Performer RPM intake

Comes with mini starter – headers – alternator – HEI dist – sparkplug wires – new in the box valve covers

& Edelbrock Performer intake plus a set of “C” heads ( need rebuilt)

I find used engines really hard to sell for more than a core. If you have video of it running before you pulled it or if they can hear it run still in the car it helps a lot.

I have seen it run and trust the seller but he is asking $4000.00, I easily see 6K in parts alone if purchased new.

It's worth is based on what a person is willing to stroke a check for vs what the seller is willing to accept. A used racing engine is always a crap shoot.

So what did the engine run at the track . Weight of total package and driver. $4000 not a bad price if engine still in good shape.

The block is a 1969 Toronado block. It was in a mostly stock 1971 442 body, roll bar/slicks, TH350 trans and 4.10 gears. Ran high 11's consistently.

I think that is a fair price if you are getting the complete engine and the c heads.

$4k sounds about right. I'd offer less though and see if he bites.

Who's buying C head cores for $1k? I couldn't get anyone to look at them for $200 a pair at the Dick Miller race.

I missed the "core"/needs rebuilt part. I thought they were done. Nevermind. I gave a set of cores away. If you're not doing them yourself, it's not worth the money. Just get aluminums.
