Spark Plug Color

I pulled the plugs out of my olds and wanted some opinions on if the color represents a good tune. They have been in for 10 passes and 100 miles on the street.

I replaced these with NGK and set the gap at .060 as all the reading I have done suggests .045 to .060 depending on ignition.

In general they look good. #3 & #6 look a bit darker, but not seriously. After you run the NGKs for a while, you can compare them. so save your photos.

Speaking of plug color, these are from a 30mn trip mostly freeway. Pulled not to long after I got home.

I had a pretty bad lean surge but was less noticeable on the freeway. This is with 67 jets, I went to 69 and it seems to be gone but I feel like I can still hear it in the exhaust

The problem with spark plug color is it has to be done immediately. You can't take an extended trip with a new set of plugs and get a good reading.
Easy way to do it is to put in a new set and take a 1/4 mile blast right away. Ideally you can shut the engine off at the end of the run and coast to a stop. Now remove a plug and look at it.
Honestly your plugs don't look bad and I'm not understanding the lean surge. At least by the way the plugs look

I haven't done to many wot blast yet. A definite surge with 66/67 jets, 69 make it barely noticeable. I'm going to try 70 and see what that does. Can you get a surge from anything else?
