I hope to have more pictures later this week. I am thinking about weight. I still need a transmission shield,transmission blanket,engine diaper, five point harness,fan go cool me in the heat. I am a little confused/concerned how to shed more weight. I want me in the car ready to race at 2500 pounds. Maybe my goal is not going to happen . I hope documenting this build will help someone or at least show what not to do.I will take advice under consideration. Thanks everyone following along.

Good question not sure the struggle to make it operational has been very costly. I still have a lot more on the plate and parts to finish not cheap. I do have a temp engine so I can drive it down the track till the engine i am building is done. My plan is to drive it in late September or October. If it is later than that I may trailer it to a warmer state to get that first time slip this year. In other words i am all in to drive it this year hell or high water. The only thing to stop me is covid 19.

Just a side note: 2500 is pretty light. 3000 will get you into more street classes from what I've seen. Just need to read the rules.

I am starting to think 2500 pounds is not going to happen 2700 /2800 might be where I will end up. Till I get it done and get it weighed it is a guess.😃

What style are you going with?
I know the budget is tight, have you thought about the fiberglass W25 hood that has been raised that rocket racing sells?
Why does the regulator need to be mounted there?

Harwood scoop not sure if the rocket racing hood is tall enough. Also this is a one piece fiberglass front end. May buy a rocket racing hood raise it up and graft it on. If I was computer smart I could measure and make image's of what it would look like in three D on a cad program.I would love to get one. The regulator is being mounted close because the guy who set it up thinks that is where it should be. On my 67 it is mounted on passenger fender. Putting my 461 back together after installing new rings and bearings to put it back in my 70 442. I will remove the 468 that is in my 70 442 street /race car to install it in rocket vapor. Maybe I should post what the 461 bearings looked like after over a thousand passes!😊

I realize this is a tube chassis car but it seems the engine is either very high in the chassis or the body is very low on the frame to have that height relationship of the engine to the hood.

Missed this post Sorry. The body sets real low in the front this car body sets on a rake. High in back setting on 34" tires 20" wide. Tires on front are 29's. Also this engine is mounted deep into what a normal engine location to the firewall. So as engine goes backward up the frame it gets lower to the body. And being as the body up front is lower more aerodynamic.This is to add better weight transfer to the rearend.I hope this helps explaining why the engine sticks out so much and the mock up is a Victor intake.

If you drew a strait line from the center of the block main saddles to the differential yoke, how would they line up?

It is off set by 1/4 inch I need to shim front and mid plate! That was a good question also transmission mount has not been drilled till this shimming has been done. So yes engine will appear to be not totally straight but only a well informed person could see it. Most do not have that vision. Thanks for asking i think you have seen this problem before. The welder guy setting up trans mount was upset till I told him that I could shim it because he did plum Bob and string lined it and discovered what I already knew. I found it when first shop work on chassis and made trans mount wrong but I didn't know till two years later as I brought car home and stored it. Two years had gone by so no chance they would fix it . My next step is install a complete engine and transmission to get drive shaft built. This should happen in August after the 3. Car is home so work is being done.

For those following yes I am still slogging along on this build. Working on lexan glass for doors with no brackets to attach to. This is my first attempt to do something like this. After get it where I like it I will post pictures. Sending transmission to be freshened up.
