Rocket racing block build street/strip build

Okay Mark i am seeking your advice as well as others. Car is3440 gear is 373 posi transmission turbo 400. Looking build advice for 91 octane as that is all I can get at pump. What bore for a 4.5 stroke with pistons availability for the shelf . Heads will be eldbrk.Thinking 10.25 compression? Cam? Intake? Carb? You tell me as never built one this big and I do want big ci. This car needs to drive to the track. Distance will be in the hundreds of miles. Thanks in advance.😀

I'll be watching the suggestions but if it was mine, I'd be researching Gear Vendors unit limitations. Truck and trailer is another option. At the HP/torque levels of that engines potential, you'll find the weakest link. Jmo.

Go with a 4.185 bore.
You’ll get a 496ci

Thats the size/dimensions of my current engine. 10.7:1...pump gas.
...And I actually run a Gear Vendors unit. I’ve got 3.90’s and for awhile was trying to drive to the track(200mi round trip). Even with the GV unit, it’s not something you want to do every weekend, but it’s fine for an occasional trip.

Eventually broke down and bought a trailer, but I drive mine on the street a lot and rarely hit the GV button

First question, what kind of power are you looking for?

No problem, then do a 4.250 bore along with the 4.500 stroke(511ci). The 4.250 is a common bore size so getting a good ring pack for the needed custom piston will be easy. Plus the bigger bore will breathe better. With that you won’t need much cam either. That’ll make it even that much more streetable
But just an FYI, I just did a stock block Stroker 495 with out of the box Edelbrocks. It made 587hp and 645tq with 10:1 and not a whole lot of cam. It can be done if done right.
Best of luck Neely.

To take nothing away from John@Rocket, I’m not sure you need that block for this power level, unless you plan on upping it significantly in the future.
You could build an EFI’d 600hp driver out of a stock block with little trouble. I did a multiport EFI’d 463 that made 540/595. Again it can be done.

Wow, you guys drive "hundreds of miles" to the tracks! I feel lucky, there are 5 dragstrips within 18 to 90 miles from me. Norwalk is the farthest. Good luck.

No I only drive 45 miles to get to the tracks near me. The reason is to show up with a car that is fast and true streetable. Slicks in the trunk ect, ect. Tulsa in my mirror. Oh I love that track.

Slicks? No reason. Go drag radial.
Set up properly, they’ll handle just about anything.

Checked your build sheet. 10.70 was with NOS? If so what does it run without? Nice build.
