Progression Ignition

Just replaced my DUI HEI with a unit from Progression Ignition. Have to say, the quality of construction was really nice. The instructions and videos are easy to follow. Had the thing up and running in about 20 minutes. Very nice to have so much timing control. Much easier then advance limiters and adjustable cans. The 10 degree cranking timing makes for better start up and changing the timing anywhere on the chart is sweet. Check them out if you haven't already.

Pretty interesting, I really like the ignition disable option.

I was literally just getting to post an ask if anybody had any experience with these distributors. Looks great on their website, but what do I know? (not much!) Keep us posted as to how this works out. I only recently became aware of these and am intrigued.

Its a big difference in performance in my opinion. You can run a lot of initial advance but cranking is 10 degrees so it fires right up. Its great to have control over the timing anywhere. No more detonation and great low end torque.

Nothing for the 394 but that's OK. I have a couple of nice 425s sitting around also.

Nice system but at that price I'll put a complete MSD system with box in my car.

Very cool product.

Now imagine tuning your carb that easily. Then consider EFI with timing control as a future upgrade.

All electronic parts are sourced and assembled in the USA to ensure quality.
Let me guess: Communist Chinese mechanical parts--housing, shaft, pickup, gear, cap 'n' rotor.

Any more to say about this system? I am going to the dyno with my new engine soon and will be setting this up.

Thanks!

No, not really. Mine is working well. Nice and easy timing adjustments from my phone.

Once settings are uploaded to the distributor, do you need to have your phone within range to run the car?

what happens if the car has no battery power, do you need to reload settings?

Once the settings are loaded they stay, even without battery power. When the key is on and your phone is in range you can log in to the distributer. Not needed to run the car though.

I sometimes log in to monitor the "bubble" on the timing table while driving and also use the tachometer feature. You can change the timing in any cell at any time. The lock feature is nice too.

The only regret I have is not getting the smaller unit with the remote coil. The HEI style limits some air cleaner choices.

If the distributor is unlocked using the app no phone is needed.

Okay, thanks.

I see you have a green/green 1970 supreme, nice! That was my first Oldsmobile (second car in 1984). Auto or 4 speed?

Nice car. Mine had that same bench seat with the cloth as well.. Must have been special ordered with the interesting options on it- no vinyl top, manual drum brakes, sport mirrors and cloth interior. Very interesting.

Yeah, that's right. I have all the documents. He ordered, Vinyl top delete, deluxe interior, sport mirrors, and deluxe wheel and tire package. (hubcaps and Goodyear Cushion Polyglass)
Two of the tires were original to 1970 and two were date coded 1978 when I bought it, with the receipt from Sears for the two new.
I'm sure the brakes were standard equipment.
