Olds 455 Build
Hi All!
I ended up picking up a 455 block for my cutlass here last fall. I’d like to get it build by the end of winter if possible, this would be my first time building a v8, but I messed with plenty of old Honda motorcycles rebuilding em. I’ll get all the specs for the motor later on tonight! Any help and I’m sure advice while assembling will be greatly appreciated! I’d like to do it right the first time. Keep in touch! Thanks!! Plan on 500hp if possible!

Chris, I'm in process as well of gathering parts for a similar build, but more in the 550/575Hp range. So will be following close, as with all builds or threads with similar info.
Check out these threads:

I have another one CutlassEFI Mark was involved that was like 496Hp.
I would just go with Speedmaster heads and source them from Mark CutlassEFI. 500Hp is very doable. Mark like Performer intakes but I'm using a Torker but going tomport a Performer and compare both. Get the heads bare and have Mark fill them and get you the cam and intake.

It’s gonna be a street car, basically take it to cruises and the occasional run it down the strip for a time or two. I’d like to shoot for that ball park if possible. Going in a 71 Supreme, intentions of making look stock. Need to change my rear gear also, right now a 3.08

If so then you’ll need them ported to some degree. Nothing crazy, but more than stock trim.
And I believe you meant a KB 277 piston? Not the best but it’ll work in your combo.
Next would be compression and cam. Around 10-10.25:1 and something in the high 230’s-240’s @.050 will help get you there as well.
Best of luck in your build, let me know if I can be of help.
Thanks.

So I’m guessing you’ll be sticking with irons then?
