Magic Carpet Ride 1972 Cutlass drag car
I was at the Saturday drags at Greer Dragway (South Carolina) last weekend and there was a '72 Cutlass running there. The paint on the car was very old but the name on the side was "Magic Carpet Ride". It was also lettered with sponsorship from "Bushey Radiator" in Saginaw Michigan as well as "Wimpys" (Transmission????, also out of Saginaw). It was obvious that the car has been a race car since the mid 70's. I spoke with the owner hoping it was still running Olds power...but it was not. He didn't know or couldn't find much history of the car as he bought it from someone in Tennessee.
I just wondered it anyone out there remembers the car in it's earlier days. I'm sure at one time it was a sharp looking Olds!

Alot of bracket racing programs mandated the cars have names. Alof of guys who ran at us. 30 in gary indiana had to have the car named to run in the index or bracket racing program. lots of old race cars in the chicago area that have been around a long time still have names.
