CP vs DSS pistons

CP vs DSS pistons
I want to use a 350 piston for my 66 442. The CP pistons look like they might be what I want as they appear to be the newest design. I have also looked at DSS pistons. I can’t find any specs on piston weights. Does anyone know what a standard 350 bore piston would weigh in both brands? Does anyone have experience with either brand? Thanks, much.

Don’t forget the new offering from Mahle Motorsports. They’re made from 4032 material and are available in 4.065, 4.100, and 4.155 bore sizes, have 10cc valve reliefs and all have a better ring pack than both the DSS and CP. Plus the CP is made from 2618 which doesn’t wear quite as well as the 4032 material will. Piston weight with pin and rings is around 675gr for the Mahle, depending on bore size. I sell the Mahle for $659, shipped, with rings.

I’m trying to get the compression up to where the W30 is. The CP has only about 2cc in the valve reliefs. Where can I look at the Mahle specs. I do really like their pistons and the coating is a plus.
im not sure what bore the engine is now so I can’t order them til I get it apart. Thanks.

.984 pin
1.625 comp distance
1.00, 1.00, 2.00mm ring pack, all steel.
They're not in their catalog yet.

Can't speak for others but my project 350 made 416hp and 420tq, with 9.4:1, a TQ40 cam, RPM intake, 750 Slayer and pretty much stock 7a heads. There’s no doubt in my mind that piston is worth an easy 20hp.

CP Oldsmobile piston's are awesome and there ring pack 1.5 1.5 3mm is even more AWESOME!!!
For Oldsmobile performance street/strip engine's.
Just MY humble opinion...

Agreed, CP makes a quality piston, no doubt.
However those are made out of 2618 alloy which won't wear as well as the 4032 material of the Mahle will. Plus the Mahle has an even thinner ring pack for an even larger potential gain in hp and tq.
Just an fyi.

On the CP and Mahle pistons are these thin ring packs suitable for use on the street or are these more for use in
racing scenarios? My obvious concern is compression/oil ring blow by after several thousand miles of street/highway driving.
Finally, do these rings require a custom ring installation tool?

And all performance pistons come with file fit ring sets. For that yes you’ll need a ring filer.
