Aftermarket timing cover

Is there a preference for an aftermarket timing cover? I see several outlets with the replacement steel cover. Any recommendations or who to avoid? I know if the oil seal hole isn't in the correct position you'll have oil leaks.

I am battling this right now with a customers engine. He bought a new cover and it is terrible. The hole for the seal is "funnel" shaped and it is off center from the crankshaft by about .030" I was actually planning to do a video of it on Monday. I ended up finding him a decent used one and glass beaded it and it looks great. His original was very corroded where the water pump goes on and coolant is hitting it.

I would almost say that if yours is in decent shape then just clean it up and re-use it.

I've had luck in the past with two different ones from Inline Tube. I have ran into those that have the crank seal hole that is tapered so the seal wont drive in no matter how hard you try.

I bought one from Inline Tube a few years ago and it worked great. No problems.
