72 cutlass stock eliminator
All, right now on classracer.com there's an immaculate 72 cutlass for sale. Legal NHRA/IHRA car. Mid 11s for 20k. Can be seen on autoimagery.com search for 2014 Gator Nationals then for Iacono.
Nothing like a small .400 lift hydraulic cammed 475hp small block OLDS 350 with 8:1 compression running mid 11s at 3700lbs
This car runs -1.00 plus under the NHRA K/SA 12.65 index.

Dave: I ve seen this car in person. In my opinion it is junk as far as presentation. Paint looks like a poor Earle Schribe (sic) paint job or someone who never painted a car before. Dash had most parts removed. IE vents, radio, gauges, etc and nothing put in place to block off all the holes in dash. Both bucket seat material cut or missing and driver's seat foam bottom just about all gone. Inner frt. fender wheels were painted and paint was peeling off. Engine looked like it was assembled on a garage floor. Underside was rusty. However all parts that make it go fast at least one second under index were utilized. Engine was built by a guy in LA., metric light weight 200 auto 1-2 shift, 12 bolt chevy with gun drilled axles and light weight spool and gears. Nice wheels, the latest light weight type with rear drag radials. So it was not your "Best Appearing Car" award contender, however it was fast. The pervious owner before Mike Iacono was from West Palm Bch. were I saw the car. He toured the county going to every NHRA event in 2011, always qualified in top ten and sometimes was number 1 qualifier! About 70 % of the time he went out first round and the other 30% went out second round. Never got past second round! Having a top ten qualifier means nothing if you cannot go rounds! I followed this car through National Dragster and the internet. He must have spent a small fortune to go to that many races and never win. Hmmmmmmmmm
BTW: with a 4 speed you can go to a higher lift cam and be legal. There is a K/S 72 Cutlass S 350/4 speed that runs 1 second under K stick index.

The car belonged to Doug and Norma Patrick .Unfortunately they both were fighting cancer at the same time in late 2011 with Doug passing in Jan. of 2013. Last I heard Norma was still fighting. It was raced in NHRA Div. II . The car was rough to say the least but had all the fast parts. The engine was built by many time national record holder and always top qualifier Bob Dennis from Alabama. --------- The car is NHRA rated at 254 HP the bigger cam moves it to 275 HP and the extra weight that comes with it.

66post; Sorry to hear the bad new about Doug Patrick....... Met him only once at an NHRA Div II points race at West Palm Beach Raceway. I first saw the car at Pallidon Automotive.
Also I thought Doug said LA. but I was 64 yrs . old at the time in 2009. I now remember the name Dennis.
