Thats what it should run.
Who builds your transmissions?
I Think it will run low 8,S if car hooks. Around 8.40 maybe 8.30 something.

Great Chad! Impressive! That bad boy will be pulling the whole way down the track! Great choice in the stroke and bore. How deep into the rpm will you go on the track? it's going to pull till the valves start to float.

I know the benifits of oxygenated fuel and see the results in your tests. Just curious if you jetted up a little for the maximal fuel, being it has a lighter s.g. or you ran the same jetting for both fuel? I noticed the fuel consumption were lower with maximal...
just info for me(tuning notes), not about your dyno session.

Dale tuned the carb for both fuels by reading plugs and using hp/tq from the dyno. I was surprised that the Q16 was only worth just shy of 12hp. Hardly worth the hassle IMO.

The jets were larger on Q16 which is typical.

Yup for sure gotta burn all.tgat extra o2.

whats the hassel you'll have to deal with q vs maximal. Does give nicer numbers all the ya up, or you meant on the dyno the change over was a hassle

Thanks for the info btw.

You're not supposed to leave Q16 in the fuel system if you're going to let the car sit for any length of time. Then you have to flush the fuel system with regular fuel to prevent corrosion and store the Q16 in a steel container with foil tape sealing the cap. Dale also recommended fogging the cylinders any time it will sit after using it.

Did the topic of running c16 vs maximal come up after the dyno session?
enough difference in the fuels might get a bit closer to the Q power levels.

I had it regulated at 14 inches. I should have went higher. Might have been worth a few extra hp.

Will the Q show more of a difference if making pulls / passes in typical summer air densities? I've heard it can be more consistent with changing weather but don't have enough experience with it. I'm surprised you didn't see more gains, we saw more like 20-30 in 750ish hp application. I've seen 20 on lower HP stuff.

We made pulls on it at end of day, shut the motor down, drained fuel system, motor sat for three months and multiple cylinder bores got rusty. Had to pull heads and clean the bores with oil and scuff pads. It baffled me at the time and my only guess was the fuel... hearing Dale say to fog the cylinders makes sense.

Hard to get excited about it for the PITA factor... but if you need a smidge extra power for that time slip, it's an option.

Guys was told the Q has changed over the years and is not like what I'm used to back around 2011. We had seen 30+Hp and up to 8 jet size changes back then. Haven't messed with it in years, just going by what others are finding. Would always drain fuel system, and just flush with premium pump fuel, 93 octane, but didn't need to fog the engine if we were running it again within the month. BUT did have a rushing issue with Royal Purple oil more then issues with Q16.

Finally got it out and made a few passes. This was the first and only clean hit so far. On this pass I was pulling 6 degress for 1.5 seconds and -1 degree the rest of the run. Only shifting at 7100. Ran 7900 through the traps and was happy to be there. This was on a 275 radial at 3260 lbs. Pretty confident 8s are in it's near future.

Way to go Chad!

Your car is one of the few that I would like to see in person to admire the build and chat with you.

Congrats and keep on whittling away at it. Looks like more time in the 60ft is there for the taking.

If you can put timing back in and get it to keep traction, that will be impressive!

What track was that at?

How was your Baro and DA?

Thank you. Track was Dragway 42. DA was around 2000 ft.

It went a 1.23 60 ft. with the old motor so there should be some left there for sure.

Took it back out Friday night and got a new best. There's still more in it. Pretty confident it will go 8.7X with more tuning and fall air.

Way to go on the 8!

So, I see you best your old best 60’ there with a new 1.209, that is great.

What were the conditions/DA?

What was your timing curve and traction like this time?

NICE! Look like you let up for a moment after the front wheels started going too high?

Sounded like he went into 2 nd gear with the wheels up. Not sure if he has a glide or a turbo in the car.

Correct. TH400 trans with a 2.48/1.48 gear set. I am considering a 2.10/1.40 gear set.

How would a glide work in the car? The 400 has more residual drag than the glide and was just wondering. I know you know how to run a car but was just curious.

Is Q16 an oxygenated fuel?

It's hard saying. Glides are lighter and more efficient but 400s have the advantage of closer gear spacing. A glide would probably require a looser converter.

Yes, Q16 is oxygenated and somewhat of a PITA.

They have come a long way with gearing for the glides but you have that extra gear with the 400. I know years ago they had issues with the brakes in the turbos, have they improved on those? I know the NHRA stockers that have to run a oem trans/turbos use the 350 units.
