64 jetstar 88 steering column
#2
It'll have to come from a 1964 Starfire, Jetstar I or 98 Custom Sport Coupe to get floorshift. Tilt is another thing. They're out there, but not common.
Some say a 1963 column will work. In my experience it does not- it's a couple inches short at the rag joint end.

Thanks, Glenn. Now you are going to make me go out in my cold, cold garage tomorrow and check the 63 tilt that have hanging up that I was going to put in my 64 Jetstar.

You could be like me. I pulled the original non-tilt column out of the blue Starfire expecting a simple changeout. I put the 63 column (that the seller swore would bolt right in) in there and it was too short. I finagled all the adjustments I could find and it was still too short. So the original went back in.
Lucked up and found a guy who was looking a 63 floorshift tilt so away it went.

The J-1 rear end is bigger and uses the 5x5 bolt circle as well as bigger brakes. It will however have a 3:42 gearset.
Jetstar 88 is a little different from other big Oldsmobiles. Their underpinnings have more in common with Cutlass and Chevrolet than with the other full-size Oldsmobiles.

It will probably bolt up, you just have to remember you'll have 5x5 bolt circle on rear vs 4-3/4 on front, and 11" brakes on rear vs 9" on front. The driveshaft yoke will probably be different too.
Joe P will know more about this.
