1970 cutlass dash
1970 cutlass dash
I'm looking for a dash with instrument panel that will fit a 1970 cutlass. It doesn't have to be a cutlass or olds for that matter since all I will be doing is modding it with fiberglass. As long as it will fit in. Not really sure if this is possible, any suggestions would be appreciated.
I've taken the plastic dash sections, that were cut or modified around the radio, and used those to make custom dashes, since they are less desireable for the restorer.I shave a lot of the bosses off on the backside, and epoxy a blank panel on the back, then cut & epoxy some plastic sections in the radio openings, and sometimes the heat/AC opening.I was able to get some woodgrain kits that were not cut for anything.Once I had everything epoxied in place, and smoothed-out,I installed the woodgrain. For one of my cars,I cut 6 holes for 2 1/16" guages.Looks pretty slick. You can either mount a newer radio in the heat/ac opening,or get one of those 8-track housings that have the radio opening, and mount it in there. Just thought I'd share some ideas.
