(Solved) Standard bore 330 piston wanted 10.5:1 compression
Hiya! I’m building a 67’ cutlass with a 330 which has a blown piston. Impossible to find a new engine or a 350 to substitute. Do any of you have a single 330 piston for the 10.5:1 comp that you would be willing to part with? I’m aware of the issues of just replacing the one but i really need this car to run. Ordering pistons will take untill September. I’m hoping some of you may have a spare!

Reason: Solved
Ouch! Are those pistons flycut or were the intake valves making their own clearance? If the intakes were crashing into those pistons i would recommend you replace the entire set. Do you have many bent valves on the heads that came off that block?
First of all, welcome to the site. I would pull all of the pistons out of that engine and check to see if the ring lands are broken. As I'm writing this, I see that you already have one response regarding the "valve reliefs" that are not oem. I should have used high compression pistons for your engine; however, I would find out what other issues you have with this one before replacing one piston. I also have a couple of 330 engine cores and short blocks, cylinder heads, etc. if you would prefer. Please post your location. If you wish to discuss any of the options that I mentioned you can email me: drolds1@bellsouth.net. Thanks, Bob.

only one bent valve, or rather the valve vas cut in half and stood sideways melded into the valveseat. Valve guide rod is an s shape. The previous owner can’t have rebuilt it right. It is tore down down and i have everything except said piston. Everything looks good except the scoring on the pistons but i have to make due with what i have considering the scarcity of parts.

hi! Thank you for the response! I have everything tore down and ready for a rebuild, all new parts on the way except the single piston. I am in Norway whick is why parts and engines are extremely rare. There is no other damage than the one cylinder and of course the scoring on the other piston since the previous owner just slapped a high-lift cam on there with roller and didn’t adjust anything. Sold it to me and when i got it fired up it didn’t last long before i had to pull it.
