Question Type o gears

By "type o gears" are you referring to the 8.5" type "O" rear end, that was in use from '67-'70 in the A-body cars, with a 12-bolt cover and 10-bolt ring gear?

Richmond Gear makes ring and pinion sets for the O-Type but only a few ratios (3.42, 3.90, and 4.10).

Be very careful using Richmond Gear! I have purchased and installed many sets of gears from the OLD Richmond Gear; never had any issues. I bought a set for a 12-bolr Chevy, a couple of years ago, and they were noisy right out of the box. Richmond made good on the gears, but I had to eat the labor. They admitted that the gears were "sub-standard". The company was sold some time back and they source their gears from India. I wondered why the gears came sealed in a wax paper looking bag.

Check with 2blu442 (John) in Medford. He might still have the 3.23:1 open gears he got from me a couple of years ago. They came out of my '69 4-4-2 when I converted it to 3.23:1 limited slip.

Curious as to why you changed gears when swapping from an open carrier to a limited slip carrier?

As I recall, the package I got from SupercarsUnlimited had all new gears. I didn't actually perform the change-out myself; I had a shop do it and I ended up with 3-4 pieces after they were done. I believe those pieces included the drive pinion, ring gear, and a side gear. I think there was one more piece (perhaps the pinion shaft?) but I don't recall what it was.
