I would be interested in getting the correct sport mirrors for 72 cutlass supreme
please send pictures of number and date code on housings. I have bought 2 sets and the second set was for f body not correct even though he said the mirrors came off a 72 cutlass. So disappointed with the guy... I do not need perfect just correct fit. Thanks Scott

There you have it have many correct oem sport mirror pairs
these we're relatively easy to get to
if you like me to round you up there that would be no problem please let me know and thank you
I stumbled across this site years ago and believe they are correct. I've been told other mirrors will fit with the correct gaskets, but have not experimented with that myself. rocketscientis, do your mirrors match these numbers? If not, have you placed them up against a 71-72 Cutlass door to verify the top of the mirror is horizontal when mounted? Not trying to cause any problems just to prevent potential ones. John
My mirrors do not fit. F body is what the guy sent me and said change gaskets. They still do not work. I need the ones you have from a body 71-72 gm to fit Cutlass.
Cant image them bein there if they were incorrect , however....th RH NOS pedestal & housing I recently aquired have diffrent casting numbers & would tend to indicate at least 1 other supplier
& would have to assume theres more than that.
If intent is to get A body & NOT F body mirrors , you will want to pay particular attention to th angle where base meets body
Scott do you still have th F - body mirrors for comparisons ..or better explination of how they differ ?
Seems th F bodys are further from perpendicular of pedestals centerline
than th A body is..
usualy easier throwin darts with lights on .....if ya wana tell us what your agenda iz ??
With the pandemic going on I decided to add the passenger side sport Or bullet style mirrors to my 70 Buick GS. Yes, I said Buick but hear me out. There seems to be common issues with finding the correct mirrors for all of the A-bodied cars. I‘m specifically talking about the 70-72 A-bodies. I’ve been doing a lot of searching and it’s a common thing that owners are purchasing the wrong mirrors. I’m now obsessed and want to help A-body owners find the right mirrors for their 70-72’s as it’s a nice look and it seems like there are a lot of owners that want to add them. I may then expand to other years/models.
So there is a Buick site that has some decent information about the sport mirrors here. I’d like to expand on it and cover the Chevelle’s and GTO’s and verify the Oldsmobile claim. http://www.buickperformanceclub.com/SportMirrors.htm
I’m looking for casting numbers off the original pedestals, housings and gaskets for the 70-72 442/Cutlass. Also, if some one has a Parts and accessories manual that shows the part numbers that would be helpful too.
Twenty years ago I purchased a set of 1971 Cutlass sport mirrors from a guy on 442.com. He said they were still on the cutlass doors, he removed them and shipped them to me. The color looked like Nordic blue. I few weeks after I bought them I was in the bone yard on a half off day and I bought a pair of mirrors off a 79 Camaro for the glass. I thought they looked like the same size. When I got them home I compared the mirrors with the Cutlass ones. They were identical in every dimension except the gaskets between the base and the door were angled differently. I think the Camaro gasket was wider on one side to shim the mirror slightly and the Cutlass gasket was flat on both sides. They did have different casting numbers but I don’t remember what they were now. The Camaro mirror also had the convex mirror “Objects in the mirror are closer then they appear” on the passenger side. I have always assumed that they were physically the same and most vendors now sell the repro mirrors listed as the same for 70-81Camaro/Firebird 73-74 Nova 70-72 GTO and 71-72 Cutlass. They also sell different door gaskets, one for the Cutlass and a different one for the other applications. It is possible that they are incorrect and the mirrors I bought were also incorrect, but they did look correct once mounted with the correct door gaskets.
These are the casting numbers from a set of original 71 sport mirrors just removed from the car last week for the very first time. I resprayed the insides of the housings in semi gloss black. I did not think to look for, or take any pictures of any casting numbers on the pedestals whether they were there or not. Hope this helps.
Nice! Those housings were made in 70 and that’s the typical number I’ve been seeing across 71-72 BOP and 70-72 Camaro/Firebird.
Would have been great to grab the pedestal and gasket numbers to confirm but that’s OK.
you need location on door...figured that out while ago...do you have enough castin # s ??
obviously the 7D housings are unique unto themselves by chance would you know if the pedestals would appear from 10 ft away give me the same as on the 71 to 2 ?
