Where are you located? I have one that needs work. It hasn't been in a wreck, but the previous owner chopped off the "eyebrows" over the grilles in an attempt to make it into a '70 hood. Metal is all good except where the front is cut, and the screen is missing. But you would need to be close to NE Ohio to make even a bargain price work.... Let me know if there might be any interest and I can take some pictures for you. I was going to put it up for sale on the site sometime this weekend anyway

What Nick (442crzy) has is pretty much the cost of admission for a nice original hood like that.

If you don't want to go that high you are looking repro
This looks to be a good price for that

If someone reaches out to Thornton he may have frames available even if he's not currently doing hoods. Years ago I got a frame for him for a 70 hood even though he wasn't doing hoods at the time. I actually brought my hood to him for the work. He removed the old frame, bonded on the new one and did all the fiberglass repairs

I did ask them recently. They are skimp on the metal frames at this time and have no extras to sell. No new hood orders either other than the cars they have at their shop.

I know a gentleman in the Cleveland, OH area who has a '71-2 Thornton frame he might be willing to part with, but I have no idea what he wants for it.

I'm not looking for a metal frame bottom bc mine is not rotten but I'm wondering about the back plate piece that fills in the rear cowl area cut-outs

This one has flat plates

This one has long ribbed plate below:

Open cut-outs at rear:

Wow! I absolutely had no idea what you were talking about until you posted these pics. I’ve never seen that before. Here are two hoods that I have, a ‘70 on the right (in front), and the ‘71 on the left (behind). No evidence of either one ever having anything like you’re showing here. This is worth a post in the General section to see if anyone can explain this.

All the 71 72 hoods I have seen so far and Thornton's have this style plate...

And the 1970s like yours and 2 on Ebay have this style with extra holes in front of the cutouts

So which cowl plate is factory correct for a W-25 hood, the ribbed, flat, or one with holes, and for which year?

I started a new thread in the Tech and Reference section to see if others would chime in on this

Also, I've been emailing Lisa Thornton about W25 hood restoration work and they won't touch the hood under 3k of work. 3k for full restoration or not at all she says
