Bump it back up TTT. It's a solid hood. If I could use it, I would fix it.

Hey, if anyone knows a good body/Fiberglas guy in the NE Ohio area, I'm happy to let them fix this up for me and I'll sell it for a lot more. So much is great with this hood, but I'm not able to make it right myself....

The back frame openings/cut-outs look like 1970 hood
71-72 they plated those openings/cut-outs, no?

I don't believe that's the case. There should be a screen there, that's for certain. What really tells you this is a '71-2 is the left side secondary hood release. '70 only was on the right.

So after throwing this to those who know, you're right in that after some period of time the rear areas in front of the cowl were covered with a panel, and the holes across the back support section were eliminated. Apparently this happened at some point in the '71 production run, but for what exact reason and when we can only speculate at this point. So I guess you can say that this hood is an "early" '71 hood when compared to those that have the flat or pressed shape panels attached to the back section. Thanks for bringing this up - it was interesting to learn about.
