1959 Olds 371
Hi y'all! My name is Adam and I've got a 1959 Oldmobile Dynamic 88 that I recently bought. It has the 371 2bbl v8, but unfortunately it is seized. I am looking for a running 1959 or 1960 371 v8. I live south of Seattle and I haven't had any luck finding an Olds engine North, South, East, or West of here. If anybody has an engine they are selling or could at least point me in the right direction, that would be super helpful! Thank you!

Adam, that's a cool car.
You mentioned the engine is seized, how bad is the damage? Unless the block, heads crank or connecting rods are damaged a competent machinist should be able to repair it. I've even known blocks and heads to be welded if the damage was in a non-critical area.
Keep us posted.

Im not worried about making things original, so i suppose the 394 is an option!
There is a bit of corrosion in the cylinders, but it is rebuildable. I just figured I'd look for a running 371 first and go from there! Thank you!

Yeah I'm still working on getting it unseized so that I can undo all the flexplate bolts so that I don't have to pull the engine with the torque converter. Im not really opposed to rebuilding it actually, I just figured if there was an easier option, I could just take that. Lol

To unstick that thing you might try pulling the pan and popping the rod caps off let it soak in your solution of choice for a few days then drive out one piston one at a time. Quite often it's one piston that is giving you fits and if you can work on it from two directions usually, sometimes, occasionally if you are luck it will come loose.... Tedd
