I just bought a 1970 Cutlass Supreme Pace car. I love this car! I have been looking around and parts seems pretty easy to find from Fusick and OPGI. The one thing I have not found a parts source for are the AC vents. Mine are shot and I could really use some high quality vents but even EBAY do not have much, any suggestions? Any other suggestions for hard to find parts would be appreciated as well.
-The two at each end of the dash pad? - upright rectangular shaped
-The rectangular vent at the top/center area of the dashpad?
-The "lap" vents? - these are two smaller, rectangular louvered vents that are mounted on the long plastic valance piece that runs along the bottom of the dash metal structure.
-ALL of the above?
I don't think these are reproduced but I could be wrong. Nice originals can be restored...I've done quite a few of them. Not a cheap operation as it is tedious and time consuming to refinish the various vents but the results are very nice.
Sometimes you can get lucky and find SUPER NICE originals from low mileage cars or cars that have had and "easy life" on the interior components (ie garaged, etc)....run a "Parts Wanted" ad for that and you'll have to be extremely picky as most of the used vents have wear and tear on them already.
When you say yours are "shot"...what do you mean? Do you just mean they are cosmetically not that great looking or are there other problems with them?
I likely have nice used of any of the vets you are looking for. Let us know the specific parts you are looking for or maybe a picture of what you are looking for. If for some reason I don't have it we will find what you need.
After reassessing, the housings can be restored with some sharpie markers. The part that is toast are the plastic deflectors in the middle duct. They are cracked and beyond putting back together. The drivers side has one deflector plate that has been dislodged in one place, I suppose it can be glued but would not be able to be moved up and down but I can live with that.
Randy, by the sounds of her description she's looking for the movable vent baffles (for lack of a better term). You'll recognize them in this pic - they're the vertical pieces used to direct the air. There are tons of these floating around.
74Indy - If you're still stuck, get ahold of John McNeel (2blu442). He has these 'in stock' and is close to you in Medford Oregon. Clik his screen name (in blue) and it will link you to his PM center.
