WTB: 7040258 carb - 1970 442 W30
Call it a "Hail Mary"... I posted this to see if there might be anyone who is interested in selling a 1970 W30 carburetor, 7040258. It needs to be a match for a 442 built in 11/1969. I'm not worried about pricing because I know these carbs are rare. I have a 7040255 carb for a 1970 W31 if anyone is interested. I'm located in NJ.

Nice carb Jason. The only thing not right is the Toronado style throttle lever, but that can be changed when the carb gets restored.
Virtual,
When was your car built in November? There was the 2809,which likely would have been the original one to your car.The next one is the 3079,then the 3329,like Jason has.

There is no gasket, due to him removing the airhorn,so that might have something to do with it.You can see the screws are loose.I wouldn't be afraid of it.Any quality carb rebuilder/restorer will check everything for straightness, and mill the surfaces,if needed.I've seen much worse come back from the dead.

I did not remove the air horn. The screws were like that when it came to me. It does look like the gasket is missing and the top plate does look a bit bowed as I mentioned in the auction. As 507Olds said, I don't think it is the end of the world.
Thanks again,
Jason
