WTB: th400, running or needing rebuilt

The th400 I was given was full of water. There is surface rust on many parts and I'd like to have a transmission without the rust. I already have a rebuild kit and shift kit.

I am in SW Missouri.

Thanks!
Jeff

Question th400, running or needing rebuilt

Are you looking for a "short shaft", for a Cutlass, or a "medium shaft" for a full size car? I have cores of both varieties, as well as rebuilt short shaft units. I can ship. Email for details: drolds1@bellsouth.net. Thanks, Bob.

I have this short tail 442 TH400 to sell, came out of a running car that was wrecked and I just redid all the seals and new filter. Ready to bolt in and go. I can ship by Fastenal. $500 plus shipping. Email me at rgreen@q.com if interested.

I already have a rebuild kit, shift kit, and torque converter for a th400. Looks like a nice transmission, RAG, but I will pass.

Rocket, short or long tail as I will have to get the c10 driveshaft shortened either way. I currently have a short tail BOP th400 which I was going to rebuild but the internals have rust (mostly surface rust) and I'm afraid I'll have issues of I used the rusty pieces.

I have the front part of the driveshaft out of my C-20, that I put an Olds 350 into, along with a medium shaft T-375 (basically a T400, with a T-350 first gear and output shaft). These transmissions were used in full size cars with a 350 engine. I also have a couple of those cores. Your T-400 rebuild kit will work fine with one of these trannys. You would just need a T-350 rear seal and corresponding yoke, which I have. Thanks, Bob.

Shipping would probably be a killer, though.

Did you find a trans yet? I'm guessing that shipping will be ~$100.00-125.00, based on recent experience with Fastenal. If interested, email me direct: drolds1@bellsouth.net. Thanks, Bob.

Bob, I finally found one local. It actually has just under 70k miles, but I'm going to open her up and rebuild her anyway.

Thanks!
