It's a steel safety shroud that covers the clutch plates. They make big plates for auto trans cases too.
That way if the trans/clutch/flex plate blows up........ Stray parts don't saw your leg off on their way through the floor and out of the windshield.

Actually replaces the bellhousing - supposed to contain exploding flywheel and clutch parts, up to 10,000 psi.
There's also a motor plate, [optional] to protect the block.
Believe they're all drilled for all GM - Chevy could work!

Actually, each time someone posts to this thread it goes to the top of the 'New Posts' section of the site. Check there regularly. Also, if you have your email notification set to recieve new posts it will alert you through your email. Good luck finding your part.
And if nothing shows up for like a week - feel free to 'bump' the thread to keep it on top.
Lots of people who have spare unwanted parts often go through the parts wanted section to see if they can sell something they no longer need.

Negative, even if one were drilled for both bowties and Rockets, the starter clearance bump is located only on the driver's side. I'm sure you will find one for a reasonable cost pending that you don't need it by Christmas. Make sure to inquire about any modifications, you won't want to spend your money on one that has been a hot wrench victim. Good luck
