WTB: Rear end

Looking to upgrade my 70 Type O rear end. I looked around the forums and if someone has a 71 8.5 or even a chevy 12 bolt Im interested. I'm in a bay area and can do local pick up as long as its not too far. If willing to ship we would have to discuss the price for that as well.

I can build you anything you want, but the freight from PA to CA right now is about $250.00. A bare 455 block to Sacramento is $362.02 as of last week.A complete rear, without brakes,is 225lbs on a pallet.I complete rear with brakes is 250lbs on a pallet, incase you need to know,& that goes under a "class 85".

I am on a budget, so if you could build one for within 1000 including shipping, maybe 1100 I could do. I'm fine with limited slip to make it more affordable also.

For $1150.00,I could do a 71-72 8.5" 10-bolt posi,any ratio,and get it to a dock in CA.A 12-bolt O-axle or 12-bolt Chevy will be more.

That sounds pretty sweet, I have to return some parts for refunds then ill send a pm. Now I know its a personal preference, but I was going for 3.42 over 3.90, but I'm thinking of meeting in the middle with 3.73. I have a 700r4 with an electronic lockup torque converter. I read on some of the other forums the 3.90 I would have to baby 1st gear, wondering your opinion for a daily driver with some drag use.

You can't go wrong with the 3:73's and that overdrive.
I should note that when swapping from a 12-bolt O-axle to the 71-72 8.5" 10-bolt,you will need to shorten your driveshaft,so that is an extra expense that needs to be considered.

I have a shaft that came out of a turbo 400 car with new U-joint in it. The yoke is just, but if it's the right length I would let it go cheap.

Are you talking about Vic P and his son Lorne? They have an Olds salvage yard and so does another guy, Ivan in the same town. They are both in our club. They do have a lot of Oldsmobile cars and parts. My friend bought his 1969 442 W30 4 spd Conv. from Vic about 15 years ago...if it's the same Vic in Gibbons that I'm talking about. Will have to set up a tour this summer.

For an Older fella I tell yah Vic is an awesome guy, Lorne too he knows his sh*t and he aint a guy to soak anyone. They have so many toys I dont think they care too much what they sell nowdays lol Very good people.
