if you don't know 71-72 cars came w a 10 bolt rear. It's more common than the type O rear and has more parts i.e. Posi and gears availible for it. Any 68-72 cutlass rear end will swap into a 68-72 cutlass regardless of what was in there originally.
i have a 72 open rear end, it's a 10 bolt w 2.78 gears in mass. It was fine when removed but I would reccomend a rebuild at which time you could add a posi and the gears of your choice.
