Hello , i find myself in need of a good rebuildable water pump core for a 394 with factory ac . Mine was badly damaged by years of rust . Mine is the aluminum version . Any thing out there ? Let me know thanks
Oops sorry , I don't have a pic just yet , at the Dr's office with my wife . That being said , it's a 64 olds starfire factory ac , aluminum bodied water pump . I'll get a Pic as soon as possible
Here's what I have. It looks like the last digit of your number is a 5 while mine is a 3. Mine is still bolted to the timing cover but it does spin freely. If this is the correct one and you'd be interested in it send me a PM with your shipping address and I'll get a price including shipping. I don't know if they are still in business, but there used to be a water pump rebuilder in the neighboring town. If you wanted, I could check to see if they are still open and what they would charge to rebuild this. John
I am interested, my address is 755 cherrie ave. Sherwood arkansas. 72120 as for the rebuilder , see what you can find out and get back to me . Thanks again.
Here's pictures of the water pump off the timing cover. This one has six arms on the impeller, maybe that's the difference in the part number? The bearing feels smooth and there's blue silicon on the bolt threads. So I believe it's been rebuilt at some point. I did talk with the local rebuilder. He said if there's no problems with the disassembly that it would cost $159 to rebuild. He did say that sometimes the 215 and 394 aluminum pumps will break when pulling the impeller off, so he warned me that could happen. I would want $75 for the core and to cover my time taking it in to be rebuilt and picking it up. Sorry, I haven't come up with a box to calculate shipping but will try and get that cost for you soon, so you can consider the total cost. John
It just occurred to me that if you want to try having your pump rebuilt, the shop I'm talking with is called the Flying Dutchman, phone 1-541-450-2277. I haven't used him yet but did suggest him to another member here 10 or 15 years ago. He did a couple X casting pumps for that person who was happy with his work. John
