What makes a gear BETTER?. Better for acceleration or better for cruising?

Or do you mean numerically larger....as in 3.23 or 3.42 or 3.73 etc.

Why not just use your existing housing & axles & swap in the carrier & gear set you desire?

I have the 3:08 gears and everything else to convert your existing rear,or I could build a complete rear, but then it needs to ship truck freight.

Deffintly looking for more speed I would prefer 3.42. I have a rebuilt 400 and the stock 2.41 make it a boring ride to much gas to get my 4000+lb 77 cutlass up to speed. 507OLDS I would love to take up your offer but were 671 miles apart I would imagine freight would make it not worth it.

Also if someone could correct me if I'm wrong but I've heard or read somewhere that in the 2.41 rearends you can't put a numerically higher gear in them you have to find a rear with that came with a 2.73 or higher numerically gear.if I can do the gear and posi change in the carrier I have that's the route I will go.If not that's why I was looking for maybe a factory or already built rear to just drop in.Whichever route the car will sit till I get this mod done I drive in a lot of traffic and I'm wasting gas trying to get up to speed after every stoplight.

Not true. You can put any gear you want into the housing. The carrier is what the ring gear bolts to. You need a carrier for 2:73 & numerically higher gears.
Where are you located?

It would be about $175.00 to ship a rear to your area, dock to dock.
