Wanted, a 1968 manual transmission 400 crankshaft.

Looking for a decent rebuildable 400 crank shaft that has is for a manual transmission, and or a #1 connecting rod. Prefer in the Milwaukee Wi area but willing to travel a little. Thanks matt

Any 1968-76 BBO crank has the same stroke and can be machined for the pilot bearing.

Here it seems tough to find some one to drill it. I have a decent crank but it is a auto one and the rear seal area is pitted a bit.

If your machine shop can't do that, I'd question their ability to do anything.

I have a crank that is .010 .010 that will likely have to go to .020 .020 that was drilled over 35 years ago but not sure it's not easier to find someone to drill it as opposed to traveling to CT or shipping it

I’ll keep it in mind. I wonder what shipping that would cost? Things must weigh 100lbs.

Ralph is suggesting you talk with the folks at Rocket Racing about drilling your crankshaft for the pilot bearing. They would most assuredly have the expertise to do so and may be able to clean up that pitted area by the rear seal.

gotcha. At first the text didn’t come through or I missed it and only seen the map. I will contact them and see what we can do. Be a huge fix for sure. Thanks.

Buy the automatic crank conversion bearing from Dick Miller.
Use a 5/8” drill bit and drill the end of the crank about 5/8” deep. Install bearing. I’ve done quite a few and works perfectly.
