I can't remember one with the accessory stud on it? I believe I have some with the little hole in the top for the sensor but don't think they started that till 81 or 82? I have a bucket of bolts and parts from my dads last diesel, I will look and see if there are any with the stud on it. I think the head bolts were part of the problem with the diesel head gaskets, Are you sure you want to run stock ones? It has been to long since I was messing with the diesels but I thought the 82 had upgraded head bolts.

Are the diesel motor head bolts different from the 1/2" head bolts used on every 1977-1990 Olds V8? If they are the same (and I suspect that they are), then any 307 is a donor.

The torque settings for diesel engines was significantly more than for gas engines of the same timeline.
Also GM issued a bulletin stating that bolts should always be replaced, never re-used.
So I think Fred should look out some oe quality new bolts.

The 1982 Parts Book shows the same P/N head bolts for the 307 and the 350 Diesel.

P/N 22510579 for the 4.30" long bolts
P/N 22510580 for the 3.10" long bolts
P/N 22510582 for the 3.10" long bolts with accessory stud
P/N 22510585 for the 4.30" long bolts with accessory stud
P/N 22510583 for the bolt tapped for the temp sensor

Is this for a diesel application, or a DX-based gas engine? If the latter, I'd have no qualms about reusing bolts.

Guys what I am trying to do is find the 1/2 accessory bolts for one of my aluminum 455's we are building. It had batten heads on it with hex bolts so worst case is I just need 3 accessory bolts best case is a complete set.
So it will be a gas motor roughly 10:1

If I can't find any here then I will hit the local yards to see what I can find. I appreciate any help.
Thanks

Because head bolts have a specific shape to ensure proper clamping. You won't find anything like this in a hardware store:

More to the point, he specifically needs the accessory bolts with the stud on the head.

Thanks
If you search on those part numbers, you find new ones on ebay.

Kewl. There are quite a few older parts still in the system if you have the P/N to help search for them.
