Wanted 1/2" factory diesel head bolts
Wanted 1/2" factory diesel head bolts
I am in need of factory 1/2" head bolts from late 70's Diesel engines especially the accessory stud need a total of three of them in good condition.
Thanks Fred
Thanks Fred
I can't remember one with the accessory stud on it? I believe I have some with the little hole in the top for the sensor but don't think they started that till 81 or 82? I have a bucket of bolts and parts from my dads last diesel, I will look and see if there are any with the stud on it. I think the head bolts were part of the problem with the diesel head gaskets, Are you sure you want to run stock ones? It has been to long since I was messing with the diesels but I thought the 82 had upgraded head bolts.
The torque settings for diesel engines was significantly more than for gas engines of the same timeline.
Also GM issued a bulletin stating that bolts should always be replaced, never re-used.
So I think Fred should look out some oe quality new bolts.
Roger.

P/N 22510579 for the 4.30" long bolts
P/N 22510580 for the 3.10" long bolts
P/N 22510582 for the 3.10" long bolts with accessory stud
P/N 22510585 for the 4.30" long bolts with accessory stud
P/N 22510583 for the bolt tapped for the temp sensor
Is this for a diesel application, or a DX-based gas engine? If the latter, I'd have no qualms about reusing bolts.
Guys what I am trying to do is find the 1/2 accessory bolts for one of my aluminum 455's we are building. It had batten heads on it with hex bolts so worst case is I just need 3 accessory bolts best case is a complete set.
So it will be a gas motor roughly 10:1
If I can't find any here then I will hit the local yards to see what I can find. I appreciate any help.
Thanks

More to the point, he specifically needs the accessory bolts with the stud on the head.
