toronado/GMC motorhome 455 intake manifold

From what I can gather the GMC motorhome intake had NO egr. However if there is a higher performance Toronado intake available for more torque I would like to know about it. I will be blocking off the EGR anyhow on the heads and not using the hot choke.

Shipping would be to Ontario California

That works!! I researched that casting... https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...ng-number.html

Turns out it is a 72 manifold for the GMC motorhome.

If you are local would you mind being a surrogate I can get an estimate on shipping. What does a thing like that weigh anyhow? 50Lbs? Fedex might box an ship it for me.

Why are you locked in on a motorhome intake? There are plenty of intakes out there with no EGR

It has to be a Toronado intake. The Motorhome only works with the low profile manifold because the floor of the cabin is directly above. No other manifolds fit without building a doghouse hump in the flat floor.

who was pissed off? That guy selling a manifold for $5? Might not be worth the shipping. Maybe I can find one in a local yard for that! If a 1972 Toronado came with no EGR I should be able to find one around here in Socal yards.

I am! But also a Motorhome. I am living in the motorhome. The Cutlass is a neverending story because the Body and Paint guy has had nothing but life setbacks. Hes had it 14 months. I have a 1970 Olds 442 convertible, in theory only. It is in 1,000 pieces spread around my property.

The Motor I am building is a spare one for the motorhome. I wont be using it right away I hope. BUt I cant have it sitting the garage like it is without oil pan and a manifold with block off plate and valve covers. I have the covers, just need the pan and the manifold.

The engine in the motorhome right now is unknown vintage with non-oem C heads (not original and likely not made for unleaded gas)

I have a Toro intake, I'll try to get pictures today. Shipping a heavy intake from Indy to Cali will not be cheap.

Scott, check the center between the two large ports for cracks. A few years ago I was trying to come up with one of these for a member here. I went through three of them before coming up with one that had a small enough crack that my machine shop could drill and pin it. Not sure why these tend to crack, but the first two manifolds I looked at were cracked down into the space below the ports. Also I had to have them hot tanked and magged before I realized they were cracked. John

John,
Thanks for the heads up. I will definitely check that out. Hate to send the intake all the way to the West Coast for nothing.

Welcome to CO, Shorty.

The difference between CO and the Facebook pages for GMCs is that CO has engine and transmission experts whom you can count on to give you correct advice.

There are similar experts on Facebook, but there are also many wannabes posing as experts. It can be difficult, and expensive, to differentiate.

On CO the wannabes either get educated or chased off.

On CO you are much less likely to be faced with stupid posing as smart. Stupid gets called out immediately.
