Clean 78 GMC Motorhome aka super big Toro

I was just out in Portland, OR for the last 2 weeks and I saw this at a RV dealership, they just took it in on trade. The unit was all original and look in like new condition. Here are a couple pictures.

Needs flip up headlamps.
Dumb question. Engine in front like a Toro or on one of the rear axles?

Front engine 455 front wheel drive. It has a low flat floor and 2 drag axles.

Hence, the "Super big Toro"

BTW, I think you can get a special aluminum intake for these now. IIRC, a bunch of GMC owners got together, designed & made a aluminum version of the factory iron intake (that's unique to the GMC) and they're for sale...but for big $$$....

One of these showed up on "Pawn Stars" last season, and it was the grand prize for a Coca-Cola giveaway years ago. All done up with Coke EVERYTHING. Very nice shape, but the owner wanted some serious coin for it, and they didn't end up cutting the deal IIRC. Still pretty neat to see one. Dad got to stay in one a couple years ago with friends at the EAA Airventure in Oshkosh. Said it was a pretty nice rig.

There was a big article in Hemmings classic car about this particular rig a while back. Well built in my opinion...

Why didn't you buy it? Definitely a cool motorhome with an Olds heritage for power and drive.

Better recheck either the year or the engine. The GMC motorhomes were built from 1973-78, but only the 73-76 models used the 455. Since Olds stopped making the 455 in 76, the 77-78 models got the 403.

Thanks for the pics...the condition of the coach is what caught my eye...
When I went to the link you supplied with the RV dealership it went nowhere.
Do you happen to know the name &/or any particulars of the dealership so that I might get in touch with them?
I'd appreciate any available info...
Thanks, Don

Talking

Here is one for you guys....I had a hot wheels of one of these as a kid in the early 70's. I only remember it because I thought it was cool way back then and was the only "non car" hot wheel I had.
