Rochester Dual Jet
Rochester Dual Jet
Hi all, I have a stock 350 in my car and it has a Q-jet installed that is in sad shape and am considering installing a Rochester Dual Jet carb. Would anyone be will to sell me a good one that is not in need of a rebuild? Thanks.
2BBl
I have a 2 barrel off of a 72 350 auto, everything moves freely and appears complete its dirty and I would definitely say it should have new gaskets & piston, to make it safe & new gas compatible. $20 plus shipping. Brett

Where does one find these carbs that don't need a rebuild?
Let alone the rare Dual-Jet?
I saw one at the boneyard last weekend, but I'd assume it needs to be gone thru.
Oh, oops, that is not the true faux 4-bbl, needs a special intake.

Dual doesn't = 2?
I'll bite what time range were dual -jets in use, and why is it that they wouldn't be a Two jet ? Forgive my ignorance please
yah, fix my ignorance also
I am GUESSing first year of 260: 1977 or 1976?
Ck my INTAKES pix thread here for what intakes therefore what year range?
I actually have one of the faux 4-bbls somewhere
I think the carb man has an NOS one
I saw one recently on Feepay, made out of a real '68 442 carb 7028251, which really should be made back into a '68 442 carb.
aha

dirt cheap
when you are done it'll still be worth $$ as a 7028251 body

X2...why do you want to do this? Can your Q-jet be rebuilt? Disable or lockout the secondaries if you only want the small primaries to operate. If you tell us what your goal is we may be able to offer better suggestions.
The 2-Jet was an excellent carburetor, simple and durable, and did a good job, but was unable to meter fuel with the precision required for increasingly demanding emissions laws.
When the QuadraJet was introduced, it was a far superior design to the older 4GC, and was found to be able to meter fuel much more tightly, so in the mid-seventies, as new fuel economy requirements began to mandate smaller engines, the DualJet was designed as sort of a stop-gap, essentially comprising the primary half of a QuadraJet without the secondary half.
I believe it was introduced in 1976 as a carburetor that looked like a QuadraJet at a glance, and used the same intake manifold, but in fact had an "empty" back half.
After a year or two, a more purpose-built version was introduced that looked like Chris's picture, that did away with the "false back" and now required its own special intake manifold. This model lasted some time into the eighties.
While the 2-Jet is fairly ubiquitous, having been used on the majority of V-8s that GM produced in the sixties and into the seventies, the DualJet is much harder to find, mostly because they were not used on that many cars, and the cars and engines they were used on were, to a great extent, garbage, and were scrapped without pity.
Which is of course why we're wondering why the OP wants one.

Dual Jet carb
Thanks guys for the reply's and offers. I am starting to question my idea of the 2 barrel too. I thought if I did rebuild a Dual Jet that it would be easier to do and I just wanted to try a 2 barrel for a change without having to change manifolds.
The Dual Jet ONLY has the tiny Qjet primaries. A 2GC 2bbl has more flow than a Dual Jet. You will likely be sadly disappointed with a Dual Jet.
Get a re-manufactured Q-Jet from Holley at your local parts store -- just checked my receipts and I paid $208.99 for mine on June 8th 2004, so they might be a bit more now -- it's got more than 15,000 miles on it now atop my 355 CI Rocket - hasn't missed a lick --- Part #HOL 64-7255
Peace Out
