I believe you can still get the correct material.. I'll try to get back with name.. but any good shop should be able to get it..especially in black..

Your four door appears incredibly clean. What is the story behind your car?

That's an exceptionally nice Salon and unusual to find especially in Europe.

When Salon first appeared even snobby Car & Driver admitted its handling was comparable to contemporary Mercedes and faster in acceleration. But C&D being who they were they slammed the Oldsmobile for some of the same things they praised in European cars. I often thought David E Davis needed that smirk slapped off his face.

Speaking of David E Davis, I just watched the Gumball Rally again. Coast to coast in under 34 hours.

I found the car in adverise with not running engine, the car has been sold in suisse at the beginning. I always wanted to have one old car, so done i fix the engine and i would like to continu the restauration, but some parts are hard to find here, not very famous car, i import part from usa most of the time. Really clean car yes, and only few original part missing. I would like to change the vinyl top but dont know where to find, i have seen on ebay but i dont know if will really fit.

Antoine, these 1973-1977 GM four-door cars use the same body shell and roof as your Salon. If a vinyl roof cover is listed for four door version of any of them it will work.

Chevrolet Chevelle and Malibu;
Pontiac LeMans and Grand Am;
Oldsmobile Cutlass S, Supreme and Salon; Buick Century, Regal and Luxus.

I have an nos in the box part 994904. Chrome is very good but not drop dead gorgeous perfect. Gasket included but only one nut and no template in the box. Glass is good as well. Let me know if you want it. Any extra overseas shipping costs or money wire fees would be on your end. $115.

That's a nice piece, but does not match the Op's driver original mirror, which has the wide frame..

Which part of the frame? Or better yet, post the part number for what is correct as it doesn’t list multiples in my books.

Again, which mirror is it? 994904 lists as 73-75 all X A B manual rh mirror. 980026 lists as 74-75 all A with lh remote mirror. 9657789 lists as 73-75 all A w sport mirror pkg. Clearly isn’t the sport mirror and doesn’t look remote but is? No other mirror is listed for rh manual. LH manual mirror is 73-75 all A B 9614194 in the book.

980026 lists in Nov 73 parts book as 1974 A, RH, outside, matches LH remote chrome mirror. No price listed.

March 76 book lists it 75-77 A and says "manual" which 74 book did not. $9.50 in 76.

I'm not sure a RH remote was even available on the 1974 A car. Not listed in parts book. The 76 book lists 3060349 as 1976 A w/remote mirror-pass chrome, mirror, remote control.

Given the odds of finding 980026, the mirror Pat has is a good find and was probably the one most often installed.

Will see if I can find- an option would be to switch to sport mirrors, but probably would not look right on a four door, especially without Rallye wheels.

Interesting- very close.. but I'm guessing that you will need to make a different mounting gasket than what comes with it..
and the price isn't bad..

If it said 73-77 ElCamino I'd say yes. There may be differences in the mounting angle. Oldsmobile sometimes overcame that by using different shaped mount gaskets for different cars.

It will still match the LH mirror closer than what you have.
