Olds 350, 403, central ky
I have the original 350 from my '69 Cutlass and am in Johnson City, TN just off I-26. It ran well but burned/leaked oil, especially cylinder 7. I'd recommend a rebuild. I have a video of it running right before I pulled it. $500. If you're interested and want pics/video let me know.
I'm in Stroudsburg Pa. It's a long ways, but I just dragged home a titleless 78 Toronado with 46k on a 403. It starts right up no smoke no noise.
I also have 2 350's a 75 4bbl this engine has 101k to the best of my knowledge
And a 70 2bbl. The 70 2bbl is in a 73 Delta 88.
I say it's a 70 based on the #7 heads. This one is mileage unknown.

I was led to believe 71-72 where 7a, 70 -7, 69- 6
68-5. I. Running #5's on a 75 block. bloas told from a 68. I'm not saying I'm right and you're wrong, just what I read somewhere. I know they are all better than #8's.

Only difference between #7 and 7a is the 7a has a larger exhaust valve. That is why we configured our NHRA Stock Eliminator car as a '72.

5 '68-'69 350 64 397742 Excellent candidate for use today. Good flowing, and high compression.

7 '71 350 64 409147 W-31's had larger [2.000] valves.
7A '72 350 64 409147 The 'A' is a subscript, like ¼" tall, to lower right of the '7', like | 7A.
8 '73-'76 350 79 411929 Smog heads. Have huge bb-sized 79cc chambers yielding poor compression
ratios without extremes of compensation.
EDIT: #7 HEADS; There were NO W-31s in 1971.

Cool, good to know , thanks, I was led to believe the 5's were the best choice. I bout a book on building performance engines a few yrs ago is where I got my info, must have gotten my facts mixed up
I know the 8's are low compression.
5-7a are all desireable. The 330 heads use smaller bolts. Got a set of 5's off one of the members here, who's not terribly far, sent them out for a rebuild and some mods.

[QUOTE=bigdooly;1512303 ..........The 330 heads use smaller bolts...........[/QUOTE]
ALL of the "earlier" heads ('64-'76), small block & big block, had 7/16" head bolts. ALL of the "later" heads ('77 and up) used 1/2" head bolts.
