Oil Pan Plug

Oil Pan Plug
I need an oil pan plug for the very early big block pan. It is big, about 5/8 diameter and fine thread. Takes a 1/2 inch square drive to remove it.
NOS or nearly new without bad threads plus the copper washer if you have it.

Don't want the ones with bad threads eh?
:-)
I know the type you are seeking. I don't think I have one handy right now.
The 8-pt tool made for these is shown in the TOOLS thread...

I don't think I've got an extra, but have seen these on 1965 400, 1964-65 330 and a 1961 394 I used to have. So you might need to verify if they're all the same, but its possible you can look for a replacement on several different engines/several different years.

I have at least one; '67 400 engine. I'll get one out and check condition. Email me to discuss: drolds1@bellsouth.net. Thanks, Bob.

True dat
You could use an extension, a pc of 1/2 square key stock, a good size square shank punch, a sharp chisel, an easy-out, or any of a number of things.
I was only pointing out, since many are unaware (as was I before I saw this tool and plug) that such a tool exists. I am kind of a fan of having the special tool on hand if it exists, especially if you actually own the car that it fits. Even if it is overkill and any old 1/2" square stick will "do the job".

Ed, that plug has had more miles put on it in the last 2 weeks than in the last 5 years! Thanks for your patience and understanding in this whole mess. My mailman told me that the USPS routing & tracking system has had some major issues lately. He said that they have had packages winding up in Saudi Arabia!!
