Need Power Steering upgrade for 66 88

I really want to convert manual steering on my 1966 Dynamic 88 Convertible to power steering and I need all the required parts. I would prefer buying a complete assembly from a similar car that had power steering. Please let me know if in good condition or if some would need to be rebuilt. Would appreciate any help you can give me!

You'll have to get the parts from a salvage car. Here's a salvage yard that might have what you need.

I've never stopped by his location but I drive by every time I visit Oldsguy in Waxahachie, TX. Friends of mine that have classic cars say the guy that owns the salvage yard knows what he has and charges accordingly.

I'll add that any 1965-70 Olds full size is a suitable donor for the steering box. The pump and brackets will need to come from a 1965-67, however, since the PS pump mounting was changed for 1968. Obviously you'll need the pulleys that match that PS pump installation. Also be aware that there are two different pitman arms, the Thompson style and the Saginaw style. The pitman arm MUST match your center link. Your manual steering pitman arm cannot be used on a PS box due to the different pitman shaft diameter. I believe your manual steering car will have the Thompson center link, which has the smaller diameter tapered stud on the center link.

Hi Jesse, Thanks so much for the lead on CTC. They responded immediately, I provides more details and they have quoted me a price for all parts needed. Should I expect that any of the parts (notably steering box and pump) will need to be rebuilt? I just want to have an idea of my total parts cost before I plunge ahead.

Thanks,
Leslie

Yeah I've seen and toured CTC's yard a few times. They are directly in the path of development in the Denton area and probably won't be there forever. Yep a yard like this, will have the complete setup, as they saved older "big" cars everyone else scrapped.

I am really glad to have found them now. I will really look over my parts wish list to see if they have anything else I need (want) before we lose the resource!
