M21 speedometer 90* adapter needed

I know it been posted before but I am in search of a 90* speedometer cable adapter.
1968 442
My transmission is a M21
rear gears are 3.42
I suspect these are different gears in each type transmission and rear gearing?
i have a black speedometer input gear and a blue transmission gear if that matters?
thanks

3.42 four speed did not use a speedo adapter gear reduction box.

speedometer 90* adapter

Are you looking for a 1:1 ratio or aren't you sure? There are various ratios available for the adapters.

well I guess I would need 1-1 but as was mentioned above on the threads 3.42 rear did not have these but assembly manual shows it for all manuals ie m20-21 transmissions for clearance I suspect more than a reduction thing??

My 3:42 rear has a 1.132 adapter on the trans. I don't remember how accurate it is.

The speedo cable connects directly to the trans on a 3.42 car with a Muncie four speed. The adapter was used on 3.91, 4.33, 4.66, and 5.00. The adapter has nothing to do with clearance. Look in your repair manual and you will find a speedo chart that discuss gears and adapters. Hope this helps.

Yes it did. A 3.42 rear used a 90 degree 1.1320 ratio adaptor.

I dissagree Joe ,the speedo cable does not connect directly to the 4 speed transmission ,while the 342: 1 gears may not need much of a gear reduction and neither does the 391:1 gears which is 1 to 1, but the adapter is necessary to keep the cable from being bent too much and binding in the casing and I can tell you that EVERY speedo cable that I have had directly screwed into the trans on my car has twisted the cable in half until I found an adapter no matter what gears I had in the car

On a 342 gear, muncie trans car, the speedo gear is yellow with 24 teeth. The adapter ratio its 1:1320 90 degree as "ancient iron" confirmed.

Ok I’m learning fast it is listed in the assembly manual. Though very true no reduction is used ONLY on 3:91 gears. 3:42 use a 1.1320 reduction.

Very true also is the fact my gears are way wrong unless I use 15 inch tires. Speedo gear is Yellow (24 teeth) and black (8 teeth) transmission gear for 14 inch tires. Hope I read this correct.
