Looking for a hi performance 350 rocket ASAP

I have a FRESH W-31 CLONE that one of my customers had built for a project that has been abandoned, due to financial reasons. It is an early block, with #5 heads, 0.030" over 10.25:1 forged pistons, W-31 CLONE cam, new Edelbrock Performer intake, Sparky-built 7040250 carburetor, built to W-31 specs (no primary metering rods or power piston, primary throttle plates drilled for better idle quality), DUI HEI distributor, balanced, stock oil pan, aluminum water pump, mini starter, AHR STAINLESS G-BODY headers, 12-point stainless fasteners (intake, oil pan valve covers, water pump, front cover), STOCK head bolts/studs for a/c option. Engine has run time only to break in the camshaft and tune engine. Also have FRESH 700.r4 transmission w/convertor. Owner is WILLING TO SEPARATE engine, trans, headers because he has the car for sale also ('78 Cutlass Supreme). I can ship with Fastenal. Email with questions, interest: drolds1@bellsouth.net. Thanks, Bob.

That's a fairly tall order if that power level is a MUST.

350 runs 12.40's in my 72 weighing in at 3400 lbs. Pump gas .,considering selling it for 3k intake to oil pan as is no dist. no carb etc etc . its a runner. plus shipping. you couldnt build this engine for 3k. Has about 5k miles and 50 1/4 mile passes. No 350 rwp but im putting it out there.

Is that 3400 with the driver? If it is, that's ~ 105 mph? If so, you're looking at ~ 325 hp. Not too shabby .

Yes thats with me in it mph is 106.59 to be exact. I also have a converter that is too tight so i could be more i could be leaving hp on the table. Along with a weak fuel pump.

An Olds 350 that makes 400 hp to the ground is a $10000 engine. Is that your budget?

Willie,

I'd say, the best bang for your 3k would be to take Coppers engine.

Not to derail, but how do you know you have a weak fuel pump?

And why are you getting rid of your motor?

Jpc I have a fuel psi gauge on the cowl it drops to 4psi on the big end. I'm selling it because I need an excuse to yank a great running engine out for my new 355. But I don't need to sell it. To be honest most guys try to blow ball me so it's probably not going to happen. And it's just gonna stay in and I'm going to enjoy it another season.

Pm sent on the fuel pump.

And interesting on the motor. I'm not crazy about buying a motor thats been ran on the 1/4 a lot, but I have been contemplating upgrading my 350... hmmm

Perhaps if my new 355 gets installed then I might wiggle in price . I'm currently in the process of a repaint and I got a bunch of other little things I'm doing so an engine swap is minor on my list things to do unless the price is right. Only time will tell. Essentially there is the I gotta yank it price and the it's already out price.
