The shape of the bumper. The 66 has park lights in the bumper the 67 does not and its different at the grill area. Google some pictures and you will see.

1966 Cutlass. Turn signals low on the ends of the bumper. Oblong openings in the bumper under the headlights on each side in which the turn signals are located and extending to the license plate cut-out.

1967 Cutlass. Turn signals located between the headlights. One long opening in the bumper between (not under) the headlights. No cut-out for the license plate, which was mounted to a separate bracket mounted to the bumper in states where a front plate was required.

I believe Hood latches and fans are interchangeable

Are the outer peaks on the 66 bumpers supposed to match the peaks on the fenders? My front bumper looks unmodified or damaged but the bumper is 3/8” too wide on both sides it also hangs out so far on the outside you can tighten the bumper bolts from the outside. Looks terrible and short of cutting 3/4” out of the middle and welding it together I can’t see any other way to fix it. It has already been plated.

bumper to fender alignment

Yes rubber filler on bumper fills gap in but fenders go over the bumper

Wide bumper on rechromed unit is most likely result of those who straightened it not complying with factory specs allowing all parts to fit all cars

How are gaps between hood & fenders ?

If bodys overall dimension it at minimum & bumper is at max,
They still look good..

Are fenders aftermarket or repaired ?

How many shims between core
support & fenders?

Is core support damadged ?

Freemont cars front ends may not have interchangeable front end parts with cars made elsewhere also..,

If you can shim each fender out an eighth ,
Bump sheetmetal an eighth & reduce each side of bumpers overall an eighth
Your dead nuts.,.

Removing 3/4 from bumper will be solving the symptom of the problem

Talked to a friend who has had several 66s and he said that is typical of these bumpers. Mismatched peaks and wide gaps to the fender. Thanks for the advice. Hood fits very good to fenders.

Can you post a picture? Have not seen this issue on any of my 5 67's that I had bumpers rechromed...
